This is our office, located in a peaceful setting on Landmark Hill Drive. In the summer months, we enjoy the beautiful gardens and plantings. Shade from the large evergreen trees between our building and the parking area ceate a cool haven on even the hottest summer days. A great variety of birds frequent our feeders year round. We are conveniently located off of Putney Road and have plenty of parking. Oh, and you might even be greeted by our friendly kittycat, Georgette. She loves kids !
At Horizon Dental, we pride ourselves on providing outstanding family dental care in a warm, caring environment.
We will spend the time with you that you need to make your dental experience as comfortable as possible.
We will explain your dental needs and help you develop a dental care plan that works for you as an individual. Our dental staff of skilled professionals is committed to providing the kind of care that we would want for our own family members.
We call our patients to check on them if they have had difficult or complex procedures. We want to be sure they are comfortable and have a chance to ask any questions that may have arisen after their care. One of our doctors always has our "toothache pager" so that we can be reached in the event of a dental emergency.
Isn't this the kind of care you and your family deserve?
We are a prevention oriented family practice comprised of four general dentists, three dental hygienists, three dental assistants, and three front office staff members. Four of our staff members have been with us for over ten years. Of those, one has been here for twelve and one for seventeen years. We think this says alot about our successful efforts at management because a stable staff environment results in more consistent patient care.
The Team Approach
We enjoy practicing dentistry as a group, and there are many advantages for our patients. As we work, study and learn new things we are able to share information with our peers so that we can provide the best dental care possible for our patients. We understand that most of the time, a patient will want to see their preferred doctor or hygienist. However, if that provider is unavailable (we get sick sometimes too) one of the others is sure to be available to see the patient. Although it might be challenging to see someone new, it is comforting that the "other doctor or hygienist" has your xrays and records. A good way to explain it is that we want to be as interchangable as our patients want us to be.
With a staff of three full time and two part time hygienists, we are able to provide flexibility in scheduling that smaller offices cannot. Our hygiene schedule is always busy, but we work hard to fill cancellations from our call list when there are openings.
There are times when we will have to call on a specialist to help us with your care if we are unable to perform the procedure you need. We have strong working relationships with many dental specialists in our area.
The clinical staff feels that it is important to provide emergency coverage for our patients, and one of the doctors is always on call. If you need to find out how to page the doctor, please call our office at (802) 254-9244. Our answering machine message will direct you.
Technology Home
Our move to a new larger facility in January 2003 allowed us the space we needed to acquire some dental equipment that would enhance our practice and improve our patients care.
Cosmetic Shade Matching - We use a state of the art instrument to determine the exact color of teeth so that we can precisely match a new crown, bridge, or bonded restoration. These characteristics of color are then transmitted electronically to our dental laboratory so that they can produce the desired effect. This results in the most natural looking cosmetic dentistry available.
Panoral radiography - This x-ray unit gives us a large view of the structures of the head and neck, including the teeth (especially wisdom teeth), jaw bones, the jaw joint, sinuses, and other structures. It is particularly helpful in treatment planning for implants and for emergency care, in which case it's often impossible to place the smaller films in the mouth due to pain or infection. As useful as this film is, the radiation exposure is less than for bitewing xrays, which are used to detect cavities.
Intra-oral cameras - Each doctor operatory is equipped with a camera that allows still images of the mouth to be displayed on a video monitor. This is wonderfully helpful in helping a patient to understand their dental conditions. Additionally, the illumination and magnification are helpful in the diagnosis of hard to see tooth fractures.
